Sustainability

While compliance management and environmental reporting may initially be thought of only in terms of avoiding regulatory scrutiny, the longer term view of a truly sustainable business model should also consider the financial benefits and risks.

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes are proof positive of sustainability KPI's being considered by decision-makers along with economic KPI's.

Freer Consulting Company deploys a business-oriented approach in helping your business identify, verify and maximize not just industrial processes in terms of environmental outputs, but also social and governance criteria to assist in assessing and driving long-term shareholder value.  Corporate sustainability programs are rising to the board rooms and the CEO's corner office.

Deploying enterprise software, Freer Consulting can implement, deliver, and maintain powerful online management system platforms for your organization.  Early-adopters in sustainability best practice stand to reap the greatest market share in the years to come, turning today's challenges into tomorrow's opportunities.

Walmart
On November 1st, 2009 Walmart released its “Packaging Scorecard” to its suppliers.  The packaging scorecard is a measurement tool that allows suppliers to evaluate themselves relative to other suppliers, based on metrics such as GHG/Co2 per ton of Production, Recycled Content, Renewable Energy, and Transportation.

In October, 2009 Walmart announced the launch of its Sustainability Index, in addition to the creation of a Sustainability Consortium.  The consortium is co-directed by Dr. Jay S. Golden from the Arizona State University School of Sustainability, and Dr. Jon Johnson from the University of Arkansas’ Sam M. Walton College of Business.  The consortium is tasked with "establishing the scientific standards to measure the sustainability of consumer products."
Cargill, Clorox, Dial, General Mills, Monsanto, Pepsico, Procter & Gamble, SC Johnson, Tyson, and Unilever have all joined the Walmart Consortium.
