EPA Smartway Program

In 2004, EPA launched SmartWay, a program that identifies products and services that reduce transportation-related emissions.  The SmartWay brand signifies a partnership among government, business and consumers to protect the environment, reduce fuel consumption, and improve air quality for future generations. SmartWay partners can be involved in a number of points in the transport of goods:

  • Freight shippers
  • Truck, rail, air, and barge carriers
  • Multimodal carriers
  • Logistics providers

Becoming a SmartWay partner can be an important part of your firm’s environmental management system.
